Steindalselva is very dependent on rainfall to fish well. The fishing is divided into sone, 1-4. Sone 1 is about 4.5 km long and extends from Nordmelandsfossen to Eikvikna, is slow flowing and best suited to spin fishing. Sone 2 is about 3.7 km long and extends from Eikvika to Åseggforsen, there are some excellent games for fly fishing, especially from the bridge and down, even a windbreak located at Eikvika.

Above the rapids on the stretch, it is a little more speed on the water and is well suited for fly fishing.
