Nissan springs from the area around Jönköping, and it is around 140 kilometers long. The river runs from there along road 26 through the highlands of Småland. On the way to the opening of Langholmsbukten in Halmstad, the river takes lots of water from the marshlands, and that´s why the color of the water is that dark.

The best time for salmon-fishing is in September, but it depends on how high the water level is. The most popular area for spin fishing is around the power station in Halmstad. If you are a fly fisher, you should try it around Sennan and Sperlingsholm, there are a lot of different fly fishing areas. Taxipool, in the middle of the centre of Sennan is usually a safe bet. If the water is very dark, you should use colorful flies.

About 150 – 250 sea trouts are caught in a year, with an average size of 1.3 k. About 40 – 70 salmon are caught each year, with an average size of 3.5 kg
