Verdalsvassdraget in North Trøndelag has its source from areas around the Swedish border, a few mil northwest of Storlien. The river flows in two valleys, the Inn Valley and Weekend Ådalen before run together at Vuku where it forms the main river which is about 2,2 mil long. Verdalsvassdraget flows into the Trondheim fjord in Verdal center. From the mouth and about 22 km up the river is called the Verdalsvassdraget . The entire river with split small rivers, Helgåa and Inna called Verdalsvassdraget is about 4.6 mil. From the sea and up to Östnesforsen in Vuku, varies between calm river sections and rapids. Östnesforsen becomes the first challenge for the salmon further travel up into river .
Tributaries in Verdalsvassdraget . 3 km above the Vuku at Holmen Farm will Helgåa and Inna. Inna holds salmon of about 3 km, up to Dill Rapids. Inna has its own salmon species and in good conditions, Inna is an interesting river rapids with lots and fine streams, and is not too wide. Helgåa running through Vömmöldalen up against Vera is about 26 km. 4 km up from Verdal will Grunnforsen. Here lies Europe's largest salmon stairs with a height difference of 40 meters. Shortened season 2012, because of the large downturn in salmon fishery in recent years. This year's fishing season runs from June 20th-20th July. Free fishing on Verdal JFF fish stretches for women / girls have ceased.
Verdalselva or Verdalsvassdraget to the entire river system called, have many possibilities to fish for salmon or trout. Here it is easily accessible and very well organized for sport fishing, some stretches are also handicap accessible. Verdalsvassdraget hunting and fishing association sells short 60% of Verdalselva but it is also a lot of private stretch. Most fishing occurs on Verdalsvassdraget River first two mil and the most famous stretches are below Vukufossen and Gran Fossen. Over Vuku splits river to Inna and Helgåa, to Inna the salmon for about 3 km up to Dill rapids and Helgåa going the salmon about 2.6 mil up. Helgåa is slightly smaller and more power was a very Verdalsvassdraget River. The fishing here tends to start in late June.
Helgåa and the rest of Verdalselva has been less well known, but has become increasingly popular in recent years. There are about 130 grunneiere throughout Verdalselva Digest and many of them can offer excellent opportunities for fishing. It sold daily, weekly and annual card many stretches. There are also many private and nice fishing camps.
