Fishermen literally pilgrims here.
Fishing
Gaula is a very popular fly-fishing river, with its many fine flows. At the beginning of the season when the water is high salmons have a hard time to go over gaulfossen, about 3.5 mil from estuary. There tha salmon almost boils in the river. This route has been pulled for being very expensive and private. whith much rain Gaula can rise severals of meters when it is unregulated and has an uptake area of ??360 km. The reverse at low rainfall and hot summers.
Each year somebody caughes a salmon over 20 kg, and average weight in June is 10 kg, later in the season the smaller salmons pulls down the average.
